The Behavioural Support Resource Team Lead is a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) and serves as an in-house expert on the identification and management of responsive behaviours. The position is one of clinical leadership and reports directly to the Director of Care. This leader will function in a specialty role to assess, support, intervene and direct clinical care to older adults presenting with or at risk for responsive behaviours that may be associated with dementia, complex mental health, and/or other neurological conditions. The Lead will work in collaboration with the primary care providers, multidisciplinary team, Psychogeriatric Resource Consultants (PRC), Psychogeriatric Outreach Program (POP), Long Term Care Behaviour Support Outreach Team (BSOT), hospitals, TCLHIN, and other health care professionals. The Lead will mentor others in the organization, in the management of responsive behaviours. The person holding this position will practice within the established standards as determined by the organization’s mission, policies and procedures, Ontario Regulation 79/10 under the/and Long Term Care Homes Act 2007 and; the Resident’s Bill of Rights and the College of Nurses of Ontario.
